Adjust the hinges until they are square to the edge of the door and carefully drill a pair of pilot holes for screws that fasten the hinge cups to the doors. Adjusting the doors ensures that they hang correctly and match up evenly with other cabinet doors. Self centering bits come in sizes to fit cabinet and full size door hinges. Using a phillips screwdriver you can tighten or loosen the screws moving the cabinet up and down side to side or in and out.

Install the hinge screws in the door. You can buy them at home centers or online for less than 15. Look on the side of the hinge near the top for a horizontal adjustment slot that has a line of holes inside. Insert a tension rod in the rightmost hole in the top hinge s adjustment slot.

Use the small metal tension rod that came with your hinges when you purchased them. Open the hinge side gap by spreading the hinges. I ve seen shims used behind the hinge leaf to adjust the gap but bending the hinge takes less time. You can adjust most cabinet door hinges quite easily using the screws inside the door.
